Comment s'épanouir, pas juste survivre

How to Thrive, Not Just Survive

Unfortunately, many people today are simply surviving instead of thriving. This is understandable, given the events of the last three years and the pace of life we lead! Some seem to have an “I just need to get by” mentality in their daily lives.

We must remember that we are capable and worthy of flourishing on a daily basis.

The last thing we usually want is to have regrets about not truly living, not achieving our goals and dreams, not thriving, not expressing and creating the life we want, because we were in simple survival mode.

Living in automatism prevents us from living a meaningful life and flourishing as a person.

If you feel like you've been content to just get through each day, make sure today you allow yourself to live, fully.

Here are some tools to help you get started and SUCCEED today!

TIME MANAGEMENT

Some of us have too many commitments, busy schedules, and not enough time to take care of ourselves. Learning to manage your time will save your life.

Get a calendar or to-do list , it will help you structure your day. I recommend my clients write down everything they plan to do each day. For example, time for SELF-CARE, exercise, work, personal time, social time, relaxation time, sleep, etc. When you are able to see your schedule by category, you can then prioritize and ensure your day is balanced.

LIVING IN THE PRESENT

If you ruminate about what has already happened or worry about what will happen, you can exacerbate your anxiety and unhappiness by choosing to dwell on things you can't change or control.

To learn to live in the present, forgive yourself and others for past mistakes. Also, identify what worries you about the future and then plan how you will deal with different scenarios or simply learn to let go. There are limits to what we can control.

Once you begin to control your past and future thoughts, you can truly begin to enjoy the present moment.

IDENTIFY YOUR WORRIES

To start, identify the two or three things that cause the most stress on a regular basis. Then determine if there are concrete steps you can take to alleviate or even eliminate the pressure. If you can’t eliminate or change a stressor—like a job you don’t like but can’t afford to leave—challenge yourself to handle it differently or learn new ways to react or communicate better to see if that helps.

CREATE A SKINCARE ROUTINE

Self-care should absolutely be a part of your routine in order for you to thrive. Creating small goals and rituals can also help you take care of yourself. In general, what self-care can bring us is to be prouder of ourselves, to have better boundaries, to feel better, to have more restful sleep, to eat healthier and to have more self-confidence. When we take care of ourselves mentally and emotionally, we are more likely to thrive and feel better. That's the basics.

A good way to begin this process is to write down one to three daily self-care goals.

  • Here are some examples:

  • Journal for 5 minutes a day in your notebook

  • Walk at least 20 minutes

  • Sleep 7 to 8 hours

  • Contact a friend or family member by calling or texting.

  • Make my bed

Be as specific as possible.

We all have the power to change the course of our lives at any time. We just have to believe in it and put the will into it. So, trust yourself and give yourself this gift.
